2024 Lexus TX Goes Big in 3-Row Luxury Segment

Lexus makes a big splash in the SUV market by introducing the all-new TX. The 2024 Lexus TX takes its place above the popular RX as a 3-row luxury crossover with seating for up to seven occupants. A few years back Lexus offered an extended-wheelbase RX with three rows of seats, although that version didn’t offer much room in the small third row. That changes with the new TX, which has been designed specifically for the North American market.

“It’s only human to want the best seat in the house. And it’s only Lexus to make every seat the best seat,” said Dejuan Ross, group vice president and general manager, Lexus Division. “This is a pivotal moment for our brand, creating an elegant and indulgent vehicle experience for every single passenger. TX prioritizes comfort in every row and embodies our steadfast commitment to electrification, technology, performance and design,” Ross noted.

The 2024 Lexus TX gets a new take on the brand’s familiar spindle grille but with a modern twist. The shape remains the same, narrowing at the top where it meets the hood and flows into stylish new headlights. At the rear, slim taillights wrap around the corners and get connected via a light bar that spans the rear of the vehicle.

Lexus will offer the TX with three powertrain options. The TX 350 has a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine producing 275 horsepower, available with front- or all-wheel drive. Upgrading to the TX 500h adds a hybrid system that uses the same turbo engine but bumps power up to 366 horses and comes standard with all-wheel drive. While it won’t be available initially, Lexus will also offer the TX 550h+, which features a 3.6-liter V6 plug-in hybrid system delivering 406 horsepower and an estimated EV driving range of 33 miles.

Inside the new TX is a standard 14-inch multimedia touchscreen display nicely integrated into the center dashboard. Complementing this large screen is a 12.3-inch configurable driver display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect wirelessly, and multiple USB ports can be found throughout the cabin. An available Mark Levinson premium audio system with 21 speakers adds to the overall experience.

Inside, the 2024 Lexus TX can seat up to seven occupants within three rows. The second row can be configured as a 60/40 split-bench seat or optionally with captain’s chairs for a more premium seating arrangement. Along with the captain’s chairs, a removable center console provides additional storage for second-row passengers.

Access to the third row is easy: Pressing a switch on the seatback quickly folds and slides the second-row seat forward, creating a wide opening to the rearmost seat. Multiple cupholders and USB ports offer a bit of consolation to passengers relegated to the back row.

The new TX may have Lexus levels of luxury, but it still offers the utility expected of a three-row crossover. Even with all seats in use, there’s more than 20 cubic feet of cargo space — enough room for a trip to the grocery store or a multiple small suitcases. Folding the third row more than doubles the available space for 57.4 cubic feet of storage.

Every 2024 Lexus TX comes with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 — a suite of the latest advanced driver-assist systems. Features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, all-speed dynamic radar adaptive cruise control, proactive driving assistant, lane departure alert, and lane-keeping assist.

The 2024 Lexus TX will be offered in four trim levels: Standard, Premium, Luxury and F SPORT Performance. Assembly will take place at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility in Indiana; the TX will be the first Lexus to emerge from this American plant. Look for the TX 350 and TX 500h to arrive in showrooms this fall. The TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid will arrive at a later date.
