There’s no doubt about it: a GT (grand touring) car boasting a powerful V12 engine is something special, and as high-end models move to smaller engines or electric powertrains, it is becoming even more exclusive. Aston Martin has had a range of vehicles over the years featuring twelve cylinders under the hood – it started with the Project Vantage concept in 1998, and today, the legendary British marque introduced its latest V12 masterpiece, the 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish.

“A true halo model in every respect, Vanquish makes an emphatic statement,” said Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll. “One that further delivers on our mission to create the most potent, most beautiful and most exciting cars in the ultra-luxury sports car market. As such Vanquish is the truest of Aston Martins. Immaculately designed and impeccably engineered it sets extraordinary new standards of performance, style and luxury for a new generation of connoisseurs”.

The Vanquish made its first appearance in the Aston Martin lineup in 2001 with styling based on that Vantage concept car and, of course, a V12 under the hood. Its 5.9-liter V12 put out 460 horsepower, and it was one of the most exclusive Astons you could buy. You could also get one with missiles and machine guns if your name happened to be James Bond – this famed British agent drove the Vanquish in Die Another Day. After a short run, the Vanquish left the lineup until 2012, when Aston Martin introduced a second generation with a more powerful V12. That Vanquish sold until 2018.

Of course, the all-new 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish has a V12 engine under its long hood, and this one is the most powerful version ever put into a production vehicle. The 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine puts out a massive 824 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, sending power to the rear wheels via a carbon fiber driveshaft. The powerful engine is teamed with a rear-mounted 8-speed automatic transmission. This V12 will propel the Vanquish to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds, and its top speed of 214 mph is the highest for a production Aston Martin in the company’s 111-year history.

“It was inconceivable that a new Aston Martin flagship should be powered by anything other than a state-of-the-art V12,” said Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer Roberto Fedeli. “To this end our engineering team completely reworked our existing 5.2-liter Twin-Turbo engine from block casting to cylinder heads. With ambitious targets for gains in power and torque, plus equally tough goals for improvements in drivability, efficiency and global emissions compliance, the result is a modern masterpiece. One which delivers performance characteristics unmatched by any other car in its category. As such Vanquish makes an emphatic statement, with its abundant power and prestige surpassed only by the passion and skill poured into its creation”.

The new Vanquish features carbon fiber bodywork and a bespoke chassis featuring a bonded aluminum body structure which delivers a 75 percent increase in lateral rigidity compared to the high-performance DBS770. Torsional rigidity is also improved which should add to the Aston’s on-road comfort and drivability. With a tuned suspension, improved damping, and a new electronic limited-slip rear differential, ride and handling should be outstanding in the new Vanquish.

Aston Martin will equip all Vanquishes with a carbon ceramic braking system featuring 6-piston alloy calipers up front and 4-piston in the rear. Not only do these brakes provide the required stopping power with reduced fade even at extreme temperatures, but they also reduce the unsprung weight, further improving handling. Providing excellent grip are the bespoke Pirelli P ZERO performance tires fitted to 21-inch forged alloy wheels. Aston Martin will also offer custom P ZERO Winter 2 tires, making the Vanquish a four-season GT.

The 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish is certain to turn heads wherever it goes, and that’s not just because of its expected V12 roar. With its long hood (or bonnet, as the Brits call it), sweeping roofline, and strong rear haunches, the Vanquish stands out with ideal performance car proportions. This look is further enhanced by the 21-inch wheels and the side strake calling out the V12 power.

At the front is the classic Aston Martin vaned grille, but it is larger for a bolder stance as well as improved airflow to the big V12 engine. Air vents on either side channel air into the front wheel arches to aid in cooling the brakes. Stylish Matrix LED headlights with a new daytime running light pattern give the Vanquish a unique look at night.

The flowing roofline comes to an abrupt halt at the integrated rear spoiler that adds a cool design element from the rear. Between the distinctive LED light blades is a panel that appears to be floating, adorned in the center with ASTON MARTIN in large font. Completing the powerful look is the rear diffuser and new stainless steel exhaust system with quad tailpipes that will deliver the wonderful exhaust tones of that V12 engine.

Like other Aston Martins, the two-seat Vanquish features a cabin replete with the high-quality materials that include Alcantara, semi-aniline leather, and carbon fiber. Sports Plus seats come standard, featuring a unique quilting pattern in the leather specific to the Vanquish. Customers can also opt for carbon-fiber performance seats. Driver and passenger sit low in the vehicle, providing a better driving position. Customers can choose from a wide variety of colors and materials, with more customization possible via the brand’s personalization service, Q by Aston Martin.

Aston Martin has been rolling out its newest infotainment system, most recently in the DBX707 and Vantage. Built in-house, the system is considerably improved over the previous version and comes standard on the Vanquish. Presented on a nicely integrated 10.25-inch touchscreen display, the system features an easy-to-use interface with static shortcuts to the most oft-used features like navigation, media, and communications. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard; however, only Apple CarPlay is wireless – Android phones need to connect to the USB port. Also standard on the Vanquish is a high-end Bowers & Wilkins surround sound audio system with 15 speakers.

As a proper GT car, the Vanquish does have room for a few overnight bags in the rear, with about nine cubic feet of space. Aston Martin will also offer a saddle leather luggage set designed to rest on the sculpted carbon-fiber cross brace behind the seats in the back of the cabin.
